About Craft Brew Tours

CBT was started by Phil Crowson as a way of combining his two great passions – the history, culture and natural beauty of Cape Town, and drinking great beer. Not that he gets to drink the beer on our tours but he is more than happy to share his knowledge of Cape Town and the local craft brewing scene.

CBT will introduce you to the rapidly growing world of craft beer in South Africa – and Cape Town is undoubtedly its capital. Whether you are here for an extended stay and want to get into the country and taste some great brews while enjoying the stunning scenery, or only have time to visit some of the breweries closer to the city, we have a tour for you. The breweries we visit range from brewpubs to microbreweries to regional craft breweries, but all are willing to share the fruits of their labours with like-minded visitors.

To enhance both the fun and learning aspects of our tours we keep our groups small with a maximum of 6 or 7 persons. However, on request we can quite comfortably accommodate a larger group and also facilitate corporate outings. If our standard tours don’t quite meet your needs then we can put something together based on your requirements. We are also happy to do tours for one or two people – we will never turn away a fellow craft beer enthusiast!

As well as being a Registered Tour Guide and Qualified BJCP Judge, Phil is part of the team at Beerworks in Woodstock and a regular contributor to their ever-changing range of traditional and innovative beers.
