The Cape Winelands has always been the home of, well, wine! But today there are a growing number of craft brewers establishing themselves among the vines.
On the Country Tour we will visit a variety of these breweries to view the brewing set-up and sample a number of their brews. The breweries that we visit represent a cross-section of the Cape’s craft brew community ranging from the large to the small, and the traditional to the innovative.
- Cape Brewing Company (CBC) – possibly the jewel in the Cape craft brew crown. Magnificent setting, state of the art brewing and outstanding beers
- Darling Brewery – located up the West Coast, this brewery has a wide range of innovative beers
- Triggerfish Brewing – situated in an old dynamite factory, there is something for everyone in their wide range of beers
- Woodstock Beer Mile – on the way home we will visit one of the many breweries operating in the unofficial heart of brewing in Cape Town
Starting at 09h00 we will pick you up from your accommodation in and around the CBD.
First stop is at CBC on the outskirts of Paarl. Tour the 3000 litre brewhouse then enjoy their full range of beers in the dazzling tasting room.
The mountains and vineyards of Stellenbosch provide a stunning backdrop as we drive to our second stop among the vines
Then we head towards the coast via Somerset West and visit Triggerfish Brewing. Here we can sample a number of beers from their extensive range. This is where we will enjoy lunch from the restaurant (own account) and maybe a pint of your favourite brew. If the weather is good we can sit outside and admire the view.
Our final stop as we head back to Cape Town will be at one of the breweries along the Woodstock Beer Mile.
TThe City Tour includes:
- Four brewery stops with a tour of the brewery and tastings at each one. Tastings vary between four and six styles.
- A personal craft brewer and tour guide (all rolled into one!).
- Private transport in air-conditioned vehicle (size dependent on numbers on tour) with qualified driver.
Cost is R1 300 per person* (no minimum, we will run the Tour for one person if necessary).
No food is included in the tour cost. However, we allow time for a relaxed lunch at Triggerfish Brewing (for own account).
